But…but…rapes don’t lead to pregnancy. Right, Todd Akin?

Proposed bill would criminalize an abortion after a rape as destroying evidence. But since we all know that uteri have a magic rape-sperm shield, then the crime to which the fetus would be evidence of would be reporting a false rape. Or something. I don’t know. I have a vagina and can’t understand these things. I’m so glad there are Republicans in office to tell me how to think.

But don’t you know that the representative who introduced the bill, Cathrynn Brown, was only trying to protect women? She was trying to go after people who would force rape victims to get an abortion in order to cover up their crimes. Because I’m sure that happens a lot, lol.

They’re really willing to argue the most insane things to criminalize abortion or prevent women from getting them.

My favorite is when they tell people that abortion leads to breast cancer. How could an abortion possibly cause unregulated cell division in one’s chest?

That’s such a bullshit excuse. It assumes that forcing someone to get a medical procedure done against their will is not otherwise a crime (pretty sure other crimes would cover that) and that there would be no way to stop a forced abortion without an extra law making it criminal (because the doctor wouldn’t realize, hmmm, this woman is lying on the exam table at gun point). And if she was trying to protect women from getting an unwilling abortion, why would she make it criminal for *them* to get the abortion. Why would she make it a crime to be a victim of a crime? Oh, right, because she’s an idiot. (This comment didn’t mean to sound so offensive. Actually, it did, but not to you, Laura. Only to Ms. Brown.)

  2. Laura says:

Haha, I agree completely. If she really just wanted to go after rapists, she wouldn’t have introduced a bill that could make the rape victim spend up to three years in jail for an abortion.

This representative is a piece of work.

wow…its amazing that such legislations are even considered or talked about…when the economy should be the main concern.wow!

This is why a lot of people (or at least me) have a lot of disdain or distrust for Republicans. If their ideas on life are so wackado, why should I think that they give any more thought to the economy? That when it comes to the economy, they are suddenly sane and caring people capable of understanding the ramifications of their actions?
